Eleaf iStick Basic Full Kit Review

The Eleaf iStick Basic is exactly what it says on the tin: based on the iStick series and stripped down to nothing but the basic features. With it’s incredible simplicity and an insanely cheap price of $29.99 this is certainly targeted at beginners or advanced users looking for a budget beater mod. We were worried that Eleaf may have gone over the top here, maybe sacrificing too much functionality in order to achieve ultimate ease of use, so we tested the iStick Basic Full Kit ourselves to find out.

Eleaf iStick Basic Full Kit specs and build quality

As we mentioned already, the iStick Basic is stripped down to a bare minimum of functions operated by just a single button. With it’s straightforward direct voltage output all you need to do is press the fire button and the device does the rest: the higher your battery power, the higher the output voltage – simple. The integrated 2300 mAh battery performs fantastically and has a good lifetime so even with frequent usage you should comfortably get through the day without having to recharge. Much like any other of Eleaf’s iSticks the design is very compact and ergonomic.
Eleaf iStick Basic Kit ClearomizerEleaf’s iStick Basic is accompanied by the GS Air 2 atomizer, an incredibly small but powerful unit of just 14mm diameter, 2ml tank volume and dual adjustable air flow. This is Eleaf’s first vaporizer to feature their new Magnetic Connection System which means every compatible 14mm atomizer with a 510 or eGo connection clicks straight in without any threading required. This is extremely handy to swap tanks in just seconds.

Eleaf iStick Basic Full Kit vapor production and flavour

Our Eleaf iStick Basic came with a fully charged battery right out of the box so all we had to do was fill up the tank with our juice and fire up this little mod. Due to the direct voltage output we found it to perform best when the battery was fully charged and we drew some beautiful vapor clouds that we never imagined could come out of a full kit that set us back merely 30 bucks. While we did notice the output becoming weaker once the battery came to the end of it’s charge we still had a good vape even then. Considering this e-cigarette offers no settings to adjust your vaping experience except for the air flow control on the GS Air 2 atomizer we were impressed with how much flavour we got out of it.

PROS:
  • Extremely easy to use
  • Magnetic connection system
  • Long battery lifetime
  • Great value at a discount price
  • Easy to use
  • Magnetic charger

CONS:
  • Direct voltage output mode only
  • Limited to 14mm diameter atomizers

Eleaf’s iStick Basic is a box mod of minimum features and maximum simplicity and functionality. For this reason, this vaporizer is perfectly suited for every beginner looking to make their first step into the world of vaping and at stunning price of just $29.99 you really don’t have much to lose. The build quality is very sturdy and the new magnetic connection makes swapping tanks on the go easier than it has ever been before. The bundle includes the GS Air 2 atomizer which fits the iStick Basic perfectly and even a beginner couldn’t do much wrong with this tank. The direct voltage output being tied to battery life might not make for the perfect vape at low battery levels but overall the vapor coming from this pocket size mod is very good and the battery lasts a long time. A highly recommended vaporizer for all beginners.
